COVID-19 Re-Opening Policies and Procedures

This plan is based on recommendations presented by Premier John Horgan, with further, specific guidelines from Interior Health as related to gyms and fitness centres. The plan has been developed with the goal of maintaining and controlling sanitation, physical distancing, customer experience, and cost per hour.  Our expertise, our commitment to results, your health and your safety hasn’t changed, but our ways of interacting and doing business are changing.  I hope that we can find a way to continue our relationships while ensuring the safety of us all.

 

  1. ACCESS

 

Attendance will be by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Until circumstances change there will be no uncontrolled access and all key fobs have been de-activated. The facility will only be open when a trainer is on site for an appointment and as such the front door will remain locked at all times. Access will be granted by a trainer 5 minutes prior to your appointment time. Clients will enter via the front door and exit via the side door in order to limit unnecessary physical proximity with other clients.

 

  1. OCCUPANCY

 

Our facility has been reorganized to allow for effective cleaning of equipment between all clients. With the upper mezzanine exercise area and the lower floor area there will be a maximum of 4 trainers on the floor at any given time. Small group personal training is limited, and based on both our maximum occupancy and group members being from the same tight social bubble, where social distancing between each other does not apply. All other appointments will be on a 1:1 ratio. All group classes will be cancelled at this time until further notice.

 

  1. SCREENING

 

As per newly released Interior Health guidelines, clients should be asked if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

 

  • coughing, fever, sore throat or difficulty breathing

 

In the coming months it is important to all that we remain vigilant to any symptoms or signs of illness.  If you have any of the COVID 19 symptoms, or suspect that you have come into contact with someone who does, please notify your trainer and cancel your appointment.

 

  1. TRAINERS

 

All trainers will self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. Any who experience symptoms of the illness will notify their clients and offer the opportunity to reschedule or to work with another trainer.  Staff will be required to wear masks while on the floor. Trainers will wash their hands for the recommended 20 seconds prior to each appointment and will be asked to use hand sanitizer throughout the appointment. Trainers must maintain safe physical distancing at all times.

 

  1. PAYMENT

 

With the challenges associated with our 8 week suspension we will be billing sessions semi-monthly and clients should have a valid credit card on file. We still offer debit, but ask that if at all possible you have a valid credit card in the system for contactless payment.

 

  1. EQUIPMENT

 

All equipment will be spaced out to avoid close contact. Trainers will respect the work flow and not enter an area where there is another trainer/client group in close proximity. Equipment will be cleaned with disinfectant after every use. Each trainer has been assigned small equipment, such as bands and skipping ropes, and will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all equipment assigned to them.

 

  1. CHANGE ROOMS

 

All showers will be closed until further notice. There will be no lockers or change rooms available so clients please arrive in your workout clothes, including clean footwear as the seating in the lobby area has been removed. Water fountains are currently unavailable so clients should have their personal water bottle filled prior to arriving at the facility.

 

  1. SANITIZATION

 

All door handles will be wiped down before and after each appointment. Floor and bathrooms will be cleaned and sanitized on a daily basis. Disinfectants have been reviewed and confirmed effective against SARS-CoV-2 as per Health Canada. Individual paper towels are provided for sanitizing equipment after each use. No re-usable towels or cloths will be on site. Hand sanitizer is available at stations throughout the facility.
